Our world is more connected than ever, giving students access to information about countries, cultures, and global events at the touch of a screen. But there is a difference between learning about the world and experiencing it firsthand. Meeting people, hearing their stories, and engaging with different perspectives offer lessons that reach far beyond the classroom.
Through the Global Leadership Initiative (GLI) at The George & Barbara Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders at Houston Christian High School, students explore the world through meaningful conversations, cultural experiences, international collaboration, and travel. These opportunities encourage students to think critically about global issues, appreciate different perspectives, and grow as informed, thoughtful leaders.
Each of the following student experiences offers a broader view of the world and a greater appreciation for the people who shape it. By engaging with different cultures, considering perspectives beyond their own, and building relationships across borders, students develop the understanding and skills to lead with curiosity, humility, and purpose.
