Our Story

Houston Christian High School first opened its doors the summer of 1998...

to 207 students after a group of evangelical pastors decided to launch a school with the vision of providing rigorous, Christ-centered education for Houston families. Two years later, a forty-five acre tract of land on the West Sam Houston Parkway was gifted to the school and construction on our beautiful, collegiate-style campus began. Since that time, Houston Christian has grown in student population, campus facilities, and academic and extracurricular programming, fulfilling its mission of providing dynamic, empowering education to the Greater Houston Area.

2000

Opened on August 4, 2000, the first phase of the campus included classrooms, administrative office suites, science laboratories, library, courtyard, multi-purpose room, practice field for football and soccer, and a fiber-optic gigabyte network providing state-of-the-art technology and worldwide connectivity.

2001

An athletic complex was completed in December 2001, which includes a soccer field; stadium seating for track, football, and soccer; gymnasium for volleyball and basketball; weight and athletic training rooms; drill team and cheerleading studio; multiple locker rooms; and two concession stands.

2002

In the fall of 2002, additional student parking was added to meet the long-term needs for an enrollment of 500 students.

2005

The Mustang Corral was completed in August 2005. This outdoor pavilion extends from the Gymnasium into the center courtyard and includes ceiling fans, lighting, and seating for 100 people. It is the perfect place for eating lunch and other campus events.

2006

The Pampell Family Chapel was completed in December 2005 and a special dedication was held on January 11, 2006. The chapel seats at least 600 people and is designed acoustically for choral performances and concerts. HCHS is truly blessed and grateful to the generous donor who made our chapel possible.

2008

The state-of-the-art Drake Performing Arts Center, along with the McNair Gymnasium were dedicated in 2008.

2009

The Victory Tennis Center and Soccer, Lacrosse and Field Hockey Field were completed and dedicated in March 2009. The completion of these projects mark another milestone in the development of our beautiful campus.

2011

In 2011 we opened the George and Barbara Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders.

2012

In August of 2012, we opened a state-of-the-art Student Center which features a Learning and Dining Commons.

2013

The Brian L. Gennity Maintenance Facility was dedicated in November of 2013.

2016

The Brown Family Dance Studio and The Harrell Family Strength and Conditioning Center were dedicated in 2016. These cutting edge facilities provide our students with a place to develop discipline, strength, and commitment.

Present Day

HCHS is continuing to construct the various components to complete our 55 million-dollar campus and educational facilities on 45 acres in west Houston on Sam Houston Tollway. The campus embodies a strong sense of community with instructional space for 500 students. The remaining supporting facilities will include a theater, softball field, and baseball stadium.
