Called to Create

Whether your students are seasoned performers or new to the arts, Houston Christian’s Fine Arts Department provides a space for them to explore and nurture their unique talents. We believe in uplifting and glorifying God through our gifts and invite you to join us in developing these talents.

Houston Christian's Fine Arts program covers a wide variety of activities, including performance art like theatre, orchestra, and choir, as well as visual art such as pottery and photography. Students get real-world exposure through guest speakers, local collaborations, and seasonal concerts and performances. Our faculty aims to teach students about art in social, historical, and biblical contexts. Additionally, students have the opportunity to showcase their talents locally and internationally.

  • Houston Christian Student Andrew Knobbe ‘26 Lands Prestigious Film Internship

Houston Christian High School is celebrating an outstanding achievement by Andrew Knobbe ‘26, who has been selected to be a Production Assistant on the set of an upcoming feature film.

Andrew, the only high school student selected to be on set, will work alongside cast and crew arriving from Los Angeles and Austin, with filming scheduled from October through early November.

This remarkable opportunity stems in part from Houston Christian’s growing film production program. At the time Andrew applied to HC, the film production program was in its early developmental phase. Recognizing Andrew’s exceptional talent and potential, Fine Arts Director Dr. Bobby Linhart and our administration fast-tracked the curriculum to provide a foundation that would allow Andrew to excel.

“From the very beginning, Andrew demonstrated a natural talent and unwavering dedication to his craft,” said Dr. Linhart. “We knew we needed to create opportunities for him to grow, and it has been incredible to watch him advocate for himself and secure such a prestigious internship.”

Principal Dr. Darren Price echoed this sentiment: “Houston Christian is committed to nurturing students' individual passions and talents through meaningful opportunities for growth. Andrew's exemplary work and leadership in film demonstrate how students excel when their interests are supported with meaningful real-world experiences."

Andrew’s family expressed their gratitude to Houston Christian for providing the opportunities that helped him reach this milestone. “Because of the school’s incredible support and the theatre program, Andrew was able to demonstrate his skills and earn this wonderful opportunity,” they said.

The news of Andrew’s internship is supplemented by his recent acceptance into the premier high school film festival, the All American High School Film Festival, in the heart of New York City with his film “The Banker.” Andrew attributes his success to the tailored support and guidance from Houston Christian’s Fine Arts Department: “So much of what I know is thanks to Dr. Linhart and the amazing Fine Arts coursework offered at HC,” says Andrew.

This internship marks a significant milestone for Andrew and Houston Christian’s Fine Arts program, demonstrating the school’s commitment to fostering students’ passions and preparing them for real-world experiences in the arts.
