Legacy of Leadership

With the start of the new school year, we have embarked on a year of celebration at Houston Christian High School to commemorate God’s blessings since the school’s opening in 1998. We celebrate our 25th Anniversary with a series of events to praise God, learn about our heritage, and honor the service of our trustees and community. #GiveThanks

We first opened our doors in the summer of 1998 to 207 students after a group of evangelical pastors decided to launch a school with the vision of providing rigorous, Christ-centered education for Houston families. Two years later, we purchased a forty-five acre tract of land on the West Sam Houston Parkway, and construction on our beautiful, collegiate-style campus began. Since that time, Houston Christian has grown in student population, campus facilities, and academic and extracurricular programming, fulfilling its mission of providing dynamic, empowering education to the Greater Houston Area.

Houston Christian is a member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference, which structures its league to allow students to play up to three sports per year during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Houston Christian offers 13 different sports and a strength and development coach who will provide personalized programs in our Harrell Family Strength and Conditioning Center.

We are proud to announce that we took home 4 SPC Championship titles last year. Go Mustangs!

Find Your Passion

Houston Christian High School empowers its students to pursue their passions and build community around topics and activities they love.
From rock climbing to fashion design, our students gather on and off campus to experience the world around them and to discover, develop, and fulfill their life-callings.

Each club has a faculty sponsor and by-laws, along with student leadership who periodically meets with other club leaders to create continuity among different groups. Houston Christian hopes every student explores different organizations and finds new camaraderie among their peers.

Our award-winning robotics club, StangTech, participates and excels in robotics competitions like the North Houston BEST Robotics Competition and strives to impact the community through Christ-like service and mentorship positively.

Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders

With the only high school leadership center bearing the name and integrating the leadership legacies of a U.S. president, our dedicated and intentional space develops scholarship and leadership among gifted students from across the world.

The George and Barbara Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders house three distinct programs: Distinguished Scholars Program, Passport to Lead, and International Student Leadership Program.

In a time when ethical leadership is in decline, The George and Barbara Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders equips and inspires people to implement the leadership principles of the 41st president to influence their communities positively and beyond.

Community

Investing in the Leadership of the Future. Houston Christian High School was founded in 1998 on vision, faith, and philanthropy. It continues through gifts and pledges from visionaries like you.

All of our students, alumni, and families have benefitted from the vision and the gifts that have made Houston Christian a reality. The vision continues today as Houston Christian provides a college-preparatory education that fosters leadership development founded on Christian principles. The founders' vision is evident as we look around the school at the beautiful campus designed to educate, inspire, motivate and facilitate collaboration.

HC continues to build on the founders’ vision to accomplish its mission. The tuition covers almost 90% of the costs. The rest is provided through generous donors and supporters who believe in HC's mission and goals.

Community comes together to support HC's mission through events like Mustang Classic Golf Tournament, Gala, Grandparents Day, and more.

Hear From HC Students

Be More.

Welcome to Houston Christian,

Our mission sets us apart. Students are not simply and only defined as athlete, scholar, or artist. Rather they are given the opportunity to discover, expand, and hone their talents to glorify God.

When parents are asked for a word or phrase that captures what they desire for their children’s high school experience, the answers are many. Let me share a few of their words with you: “balance, community, college preparedness, a deeper relationship with the Lord, partnership in the classroom between parents and the school, opportunity, nourishment, memories for a lifetime and FUN!” I am sure many of you have the same desires and prayers for your children.

Through our small class sizes, competitive sports, more than 20 fine and performing arts courses, free inquiry in classroom discussion, and 16 Advanced Placement courses, we can fulfill your desires for your student’s high school years.

Students, we know that you will be leaders of and change agents in our world and you will do so with the experiences you have had on your educational journey.

Houston Christian established and defined 5 leadership dimensions which are incorporated into every facet and level of curriculum. If a school claims to be dedicated to equipping students to be leaders for the future, it is imperative that students are given the tools needed to meet that goal!

We know we are meeting the needs of our students in 21st century education to carry them not just to college but ultimately to their life-calling.

A Christ-filled community and stellar academics are not mutually exclusive at Houston Christian but integrated fully and without compromise. Whether we like it or not all schools transmit values. A Houston Christian education has relevance because it helps students build a moral compass – Good or bad, moral standards are learned by our teens from the people who surround them. Many schools lack the freedom to define these values or take a neutral stance. We believe there is no such thing. All educators take a position in the way they live and work before young people. Even the absence of faith is a faith-based decision.

At Houston Christian, we build our students’ knowledge and understanding of God’s Word through all academic disciplines and equip them as leaders to serve where their gifts and abilities take them. Houston Christian is intentional in meeting the talents of our students and providing them with an opportunity to be more.

At Houston Christian, a student can sing in the choir before school and make the winning touchdown on the football field Friday night while being a scholar in the classroom. They can use their hands to throw on the pottery wheel and then dig a volleyball in the afternoon. At Houston Christian, you can do more, learn more, experience more, and be more.

We are here to help you during this exciting time! Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Peace & blessings,
Anne Dalton
