How Sweet the Sound

As foundational student organizations at Houston Christian High School, the Houston Christian Chorale and Chamber Choir carry a rich legacy of artistic and vocal excellence. Set within a warm, supportive Christian environment, our choral program is dedicated to inspiring students to discover their vocal potential, master diverse musical genres, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the fine arts.

Our curriculum blends rigorous vocal technique and literature study with frequent opportunities to take the stage. Singers share their music throughout the year across campus chapel services, seasonal showcase concerts, local community events, and choir festivals.

Chorale

The Houston Christian Chorale comprises singers from every facet of the Houston Christian High School community. This ensemble meets every morning during FAB block. Integral to the Fine Arts experience at Houston Christian High School is the ability to participate in many performing arts ensembles, including dance, theatre, band, choir, and orchestra. Students can participate in multiple activities, as the instructors wish to allow all students to celebrate their abilities within our programs.

Students in the Choral Program at Houston Christian High School learn basic theory, music reading, part singing, and individual and group vocal techniques. These skills also cross over to other programs like our Worship Band and Theatre program. We sing music from all genres of choral literature, including classical, twentieth-century, madrigals, doo-wop, gospel, and jazz. Performance is an ensemble emphasis, with opportunities for ensemble and individual performance.
