A Special Message from Head of School: COVID-19 Update

At this time, we will maintain our current protocols through the two weeks following Spring Break or April 2. Masks, hand sanitation, social distancing, and current adjustments to scheduling will continue as is on campus until otherwise notified. Given the potential for increased COVID-19 case numbers in our community over Spring Break, we will monitor our case numbers upon return from the holidays before making further decisions.
Greetings Mustangs!

With Spring Break only days away, I wanted to take a moment and update you on potential adjustments to our health and safety protocols. As you may be aware, Governor Greg Abbott rescinded the statewide mask mandate to go into effect tomorrow. As a school, we carefully review recommendations from federal, state, and local entities, such as Houston’s Texas Medical Center, the Texas Education Agency, Harris County Public Health, and the Center for Disease Control, prior to adjusting health and safety protocols on campus. Such changes have far reaching consequences for our community, and we want to ensure that as we move forward through the school year, any modifications we make are timely and sustain the health and welfare of both students and staff.

It is also our desire to fully support our teachers as they instruct our students with the added requirements and burden of COVID-19 protocols. By waiting to make any potential adjustments, we provide ample time for the faculty, and staff to get vaccinated. We will continue to gather feedback from faculty, staff and students, taking into account their concerns and experiences as we investigate ways to adjust our protocols for the final quarter of the semester.

In summary, if the number of cases on campus stays low following Spring Break and the overall positive cases across Houston continues to drop, we will consider further adjustments to our health and safety protocols for April and/or May.

Thank you for your patience and support as we prioritize the health and safety of our community in order to maintain in-person learning on campus. Enjoy your holidays!

Sincerely,

Stephen M. Livingston, Ed.D.
