Scholarships are available for application once a student has applied and been accepted to Houston Christian.

The Ann Crenshaw Fine Arts Scholar Award
The Ann Crenshaw Fine Arts Scholar Award was established in May 2003 to honor Mrs. Ann Crenshaw’s 30 years of service to Northwest Academy and Houston Christian High School. During that time, she inspired countless students and shared with them a passion for music. The intent of the Ann Crenshaw Award is to acknowledge a student who has excelled in the fine arts and to celebrate the winner in the HCHS community during his/her senior year.

Eligibility:
- The intent of this award is to reward excellence in the fine arts and to celebrate the recipient in the HCHS community during his/her senior year.
- This award recognizes a Houston Christian High School student at the end of his/her junior year and is presented at the spring Awards Assembly.
- The recipient will receive a certificate, a letter from Mrs. Ann Crenshaw, and a monetary award distributed as credit from Houston Christian High School to the student’s financial account.
- It recognizes excellence in the fine arts at Houston Christian High School in one or more of the following areas: art, band, choir, drama, and orchestra.
- The recipient should demonstrate through their talents that they embrace and support Christian values and principles.
- Award is granted based on merit only. Financial need is not taken into consideration.
Selection Process:
- The student must complete an application that explores GPA, HCHS Fine Arts participation, awards and recognition, fine arts involvement outside of HCHS, leadership, and activities at HCHS.
- The student must write an essay of 250-300 words on the following topic, and include it as an attachment with the application: How have fine arts experiences at Houston Christian High School impacted your life?

Masonhall Memorial Scholarship for Technology

The Janis Masonhall Memorial Scholarship for Technology was established in 2004 and is presented annually to an incoming freshman. The scholarship is awarded to a student with a passion for technology to encourage that interest and to help the family defray expenses for purchasing the required technology.

Eligibility
Applicants must be entering the ninth grade at Houston Christian High School.

Criteria
The recipient will be selected based on her/his overall qualifications with regard to her/his interest in technology as expressed in the written essay section of the application, in combination with her/his awards and extracurricular involvement pertaining to technology.

Mustang Merit Scholarship
Houston Christian High School will award up to three HC Mustang Merit Awards of $10,000 to incoming freshmen who demonstrate academic excellence, exemplify servant leadership, display integrity both inside and outside of the classroom, and actively participate in extracurricular pursuits. Applicants for the merit scholarship are considered without regard for financial need.

Scholarship Criteria
Accepted incoming 9th-grade students who have submitted a completed HC application. Successful applicants will also show:

Academic Excellence:
- Score 60% or better in each of the subtests of the ISEE
OR
- ”90” or above/”B” or above on last two completed semesters/trimesters
Demonstrated Excellence in at least two of the following areas:
- Leadership
- Athletics
- Arts
- Service
Scholarship Essays
Submit essays on the two prompts below (minimum of 250 words each):
1. Applicants are expected to demonstrate involvement in at least two of the following areas: leadership, athletics, arts, or service. Give an example of how your involvement in these areas will help you grow and achieve your goals?
2. Houston Christian’s core values are Honor, Community, Heritage, & Scholarship. As a school focused on creating leaders of the future, what do our core values mean to you?
Application Deadlines
Round 1: Deadline to apply: Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Decisions released March 26, 2024 (Applicants not selected during Round 1 will still be considered for Round 2.)
Round 2: Deadline to apply: June 15th, 2024. Decisions released June 30, 2024.

The Andrew Webb Scholarship for Leadership

Andrew McCue “Drew” Webb was an extraordinary young man who made a significant impact at Houston Christian High School during the 2008-2009 school year, when he joined Head Lacrosse Coach Pete Lehle as an Assistant Coach. Drew played Lacrosse at Episcopal High School for Coach Lehle from 2001-2004. Drew joined Coach Lehle in just the second year of the HCHS lacrosse program, and he played a key role in building the team with his knowledge and passion for the game of lacrosse. Just one year later the team went on to compete in the Texas Division 2 State Championship Tournament.

When Drew passed away suddenly in 2010, the Houston Christian community recognized that he should be remembered because he was outstanding in so many ways.

He was a scholar who graduated first in his high school class. Drew attended and graduated from Cornell University in 2008.

He was an Eagle Scout, and was awarded one of Scouting's highest honors, the Honor Medal, for saving a fellow scout's life while putting his own life at risk while on a canoeing trip on Buffalo Bayou.

He was an amazing lacrosse player and leader on the field, and was one of Texas' first ever two-time High School All Americans. He lettered every year in high school, and played for four years at Cornell University, and each of those years his team was the Ivy League Champion.

Drew also enjoyed writing, and was the author of many columns and articles for his school newspapers in middle school, high school, and college.

Drew was creative, and particularly enjoyed making films, and entered several of his creations in the Ivy Film Festival.

One of the things that people remember the most about Drew was his sense of humor, and he enjoyed making people laugh more than almost anything.

A group of Drew’s friends have created a permanent scholarship fund at Houston Christian High School to remember Drew. Every year HCHS will award one or more Drew Webb Scholarships for Leadership to students in grades 9, 10, 11, and/or 12 who demonstrate special ability and character in any and all of the areas in which Drew excelled: academics, leadership, service to others, athletics, creative writing/journalism, and film production.

Betty Butler Distinguished Scholars Award: DSP

Established in 2002, the Betty Butler Distinguished Scholar Award is administered by Houston Christian High School annually to benefit a student who is participating in the Distinguished Scholars Program. The academically rigorous program is designed to challenge the top 10% of the student body. HCHS expects the Distinguished Scholar experience to have a positive influence on its entire student body and to enhance the HCHS academic program overall.
Dye Family Scholarship Endowment: Fine Arts

The Dye Family Scholarship was established in 2019 by David and Stacy Dye in honor of their two sons, Alexander and Evan. This scholarship supports the Fine Arts program at HCHS. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student in the Fine Arts program and assists with the student’s tuition. The amount awarded is dependent on the distributable amount in the endowment for that particular year. This honor recognizes HC’s ongoing faith in this student and assists with indexed tuition needs.
Joe Fogarty Family Scholarship: Fine Arts

The Joe Fogarty Family Scholarship was established on February 23, 2021, by his wife Neala and daughter Bronwyn in Joseph Martin Fogarty’s memory. This scholarship supports the Fine Arts program at HCHS. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student, or students if the distribution allows, in the Fine Arts program who is participating in HC Theaterworks. The amount awarded is dependent on the distributable amount in the endowment for that particular year. This honor recognizes HC’s ongoing faith in this student and assists with the student's indexed tuition needs.
