HC Hires New Head Golf Coach: Max Garrett

Houston Christian High School is proud to announce Max Garrett as the new Head Golf Coach.

Coach Garrett brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record of player development, and a vision to take Mustang Golf to new heights. A former collegiate golfer at the University of Texas, he went on to compete professionally for two years before turning his passion into a career that has shaped some of the nation’s top players.

Since 2000, Coach Garrett has owned and operated Golfsmart, where he has trained more than 100 Division I golfers. His unique blend of competitive playing experience and coaching expertise has guided athletes to excel at every level. Under his leadership, players have become State Amateur Champions, Collegiate Champions, and earned All-State, All-Regional, and All-District honors in UIL, TAPPS, and SPC competition.
In addition to his coaching career, Garrett has also been a highly successful lawyer and business owner, bringing a depth of leadership experience that translates directly to his role in developing student-athletes.

Coach Garrett has already begun connecting with Houston Christian’s golf athletes, sharing his vision and building relationships as the team prepares for the upcoming season. His approach to coaching is not only about refining technique but also instilling life skills that extend beyond the course, teaching values of perseverance, focus, and integrity.

“Coach Garrett’s impact will be felt both on and off the course,” said Terry Pirtle, Athletic Director. “His experience, leadership, and commitment to developing the whole athlete make him an incredible fit for our program.”

Houston Christian High School looks forward to an exciting new chapter for Mustang Golf under Coach Garrett’s leadership.
