HoS Gives Guidance on 20-21 School Year

Greetings Mustangs!

I hope this letter finds you safe and healthy and that your summer was restful and relaxing. Our current season of flux has caused us to all experience loss in different ways, and I hope you find comfort and peace during this tumultuous time. I especially want to extend my condolences to those who have endured the worst during our current health crisis. Please know that your Houston Chrisitan community is praying for you.

Our staff here at school has been diligently monitoring state and local health trends while developing ways to reunite our community in the safest way possible. We worked all summer to meet or exceed the health guidelines provided by state and federal health officials and are confident that we can provide a safe environment for learning on campus. If interested in seeing the most current data for Houston, visit the Texas Medical Center’s website

I am also proud to say our administration has done an excellent job of creating a series of instructional models that can fluctuate from distance learning, to hybrid learning, to fully on-campus learning with relative ease. These models take into account adjustments to co-curricular activities such as Athletics and Fine Arts, and allows for maximum flexibility while maintaining instructional time as a priority.

Attached to this email we provided a guidebook with an overview of these instructional models, along with other relevant information you need to start the school year successfully. The Board of Trustees Executive Committee reviewed these models and looks forward to seeing them prepare our students to be future leaders. Please review this guidebook and feel free to reach out with any questions.

As we approach the anticipated start date of August 17, we will solidify our decision. As a private religious organization, the law gives us the flexibility to adjust our course of action, such as start date and instructional model, based on what's best for our community. Maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment remains our priority and we take federal, state, and local recommendations seriously. We will keep you updated as information and data is released.

Please read the attached document carefully and reach out with any questions. We will provide additional information on each area in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience as we work to provide a dynamic, intentional learning environment for your students. I, along with the teachers and staff of Houston Christian, greatly anticipate reuniting with our Mustang community.
