Houston Christian Recognizes National Merit Achievements
Houston Christian High School is proud to recognize six students for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), earning recognition in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Five HC students have been named National Merit Commended Students, placing them among the highest-performing students nationwide. Commended Students score in the top 3–4% of all juniors across the country who take the PSAT/NMSQT, earning recognition for their exceptional academic promise.
HC’s 2027 National Merit Commended Students are Joseph Bono, Carter Droog, Pryce Houston, Vaughn Skurner, and Jackson Yi.
These students have demonstrated impressive academic ability among a highly competitive national pool. Although Commended Students do not advance to the next stage of the National Merit Scholarship competition, their recognition reflects their strong performance and academic potential.
Houston Christian is also proud to recognize Anna Gean as a National Merit Semifinalist.
Semifinalists represent fewer than 1% of high school seniors nationwide who took the PSAT/NMSQT, placing them among the most academically talented students in the country.
As a Semifinalist, Gean will continue in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship competition for a share of approximately 6,930 scholarships worth more than $24 million. These scholarships support students as they pursue higher education.
We congratulate Joseph, Carter, Pryce, Vaughn, Jackson, and Anna on this significant recognition. Their achievements reflect a commitment to academic excellence and the pursuit of learning that Houston Christian strives to cultivate in every student.
