Houston Christian Fine Arts Students Earn Superior Ratings at Festival
Houston Christian High School is celebrating outstanding achievements in its Fine Arts program as both band/orchestra students and the Houston Christian Chorale earned top honors at the Houston Symphonic Band Concert & Sight Reading Festival, hosted on campus earlier this month.
Instrumental students took the stage in the chapel to perform for a panel of adjudicators and complete a sight-reading assessment, demonstrating their musical skill, preparation, and focus. Their performance resulted in Superior ratings from all judges (straight I’s)—the highest distinction awarded at the event.
The Houston Christian Chorale also delivered an exceptional performance, presenting three challenging pieces before immediately completing a sight-reading evaluation. The group received straight Superior ratings in both Concert and Sight-Reading, reflecting their dedication to excellence and strong musicianship.
Both ensembles exemplified Houston Christian’s core values through their preparation, discipline, and collaborative spirit, showcasing not only technical skill but also a deep appreciation for the art of music.
The success at this year’s festival marks an exciting moment for the Fine Arts program as students prepare for a full slate of upcoming performances, including the Fine Arts Festival, the Goodwill of Houston Gala, Senior Awards, and Graduation.
