Houston Christian Thespians Serve the Community Through Youth Theatre Camp at SpringSpirit of Houston

This summer, members of Houston Christian High School's International Thespian Society, ITS Troupe #6706, stepped off their own stage and into the lives of young campers at SpringSpirit of Houston, where they hosted a week-long youth theatre camp. It was a meaningful opportunity for our students to give back, share their passion for the performing arts, and live out the value of community in a tangible way.

Throughout the week, Houston Christian's student artists led theatre-skill games, choreographed and taught dance routines, staged scenes, and built genuine relationships with their campers. By the end of the week, those campers had prepared short performances to showcase for their own families, guided every step of the way by our students.

Several ITS members took on significant leadership roles to make the week possible. Sam Cessac '28 and Payton Mitchell '27 choreographed and taught an interactive dance routine that had campers on their feet and fully engaged. ITS Co-President Sophie Dickson '27 took on the work of organizing the week's schedule and writing original scripts for the campers to perform, ensuring every child had a moment to shine.

For these students, the week was about more than theatre technique. It was about using the gifts they have developed at Houston Christian to serve others and reflect something greater than themselves.
