Houston Christian Theatreworks Earns 10 Finalist Honors at Tommy Tune Awards
A milestone moment for Houston Christian Fine Arts, HC Theatreworks has been named a Finalist in 10 categories at the Tommy Tune Awards, including Best Musical for its production of Anastasia. This distinction places Houston Christian among the top 8 out of 65 schools across the Houston area.
The recognition highlights the exceptional work of students across performance and technical theatre, showcasing both talent on stage and excellence behind the scenes.
Houston Christian received finalist honors in the following categories:
Best Musical – Anastasia
Projection Design – Anastasia (Sofia Conshafter & Rosemary Moore)
Sound Design – High School Musical (Anna Clair Slate & Brian Minson)
Stage Management – Anastasia (Megan Hyzak, Ella Faust & Sofia Conshafter)
Choreography – Anastasia (Melissa Tyler, Kenny Erler & Corde Espinoza)
Lead Actress – Annabelle Cody as “Anya” (Anastasia)
Lead Actress – Alyssa Melton as “Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch” (Anastasia)
Lead Actor – Major Tarwater as “Vlad Popov” (Anastasia)
Dancer – Carter Akompi as “Sorcerer Von Rothbart / Feature Dancer” (Anastasia)
Dancer – Charlotte Young as “Martha Cox” (High School Musical)
As a result of being named a Best Musical finalist, Houston Christian students will also have the opportunity to perform live at the Tommy Tune Awards ceremony, taking the stage in front of the greater Houston theatre community.
This achievement reflects the dedication, creativity, and collaboration of the entire Theatreworks program. Houston Christian also recognizes the support of its faculty, staff, and community, whose encouragement helps make opportunities like this possible.
