Dear Houston Christian Community,
It’s with great excitement and anticipation that Houston Christian announces Mr. David Kinard as the new Athletics Director for Houston Christian High School. Mr. Kinard comes to us with a wealth of experience in collegiate athletics and we look forward to his leadership of our athletic department.
Mr. Kinard most recently worked for Abilene Christian University where he served as deputy director of athletics. He oversaw the transition for ACU into a DI school, along with helping hire a successful football coach for their program. At Boise State University he successfully reached record-breaking fundraising goals, resulting in the completion of DeChevrieux Field, a football operations center, and new locker rooms for swimming, diving, and golf. His role at Arizona State University had him overseeing staff customer service training, enhancing school spirit, and building attendance at sporting events. He also has experience working with the National Championship gymnastics team and coaches at University of California, Los Angeles, which has the most team national championships than any other university.
David has completed all but his dissertation in a doctorate of business administration with an emphasis in organizational leadership. He has his Masters of Science in Sports Management from University of Kentucky; and a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Faith is a strong proponent of Mr. Kinard’s life and we are thrilled for him to join our team of coaches, building a vibrant culture of excellence across boys and girls sports. Our students will have the great privilege of learning from a man who deeply values, not only their athleticism, but also their academic success and spiritual development. He has a stellar reputation of being fun and easy to work with, while still being an effective communicator and challenging athletes to be their best selves.
“I am very excited about joining Houston Christian.” Mr. Kinard said. “I can’t thank Dr. Livingston, Dr. Price, and the search committee enough for providing me this opportunity. The potential of the Mustangs’ athletic department, the reputation of academic excellence, and most importantly, the people in a Christ-centered community, make it a destination position for my family. We look forward to joining a great team, and building great relationships in the Houston area.”
Mr. Kinard has been married to Chelsea Kinard, a former pro-golfer, for five years and they will be moving to Houston this summer from Abilene with their three-year-old son, David “Trey” Kinard III.
Have a great summer!
Dr. Stephen M. Livingston
