School History Made with 14 Tommy Tune Nominations

Students and faculty of Houston Christian High School's Newsies production share nominations in 14 categories of the 2022 Tommy Tune Awards - a first for the school's Theatre Department. It is the highest number of nominations we have ever received and also the first time we have had more nominations than any other school in the Greater Houston area. Houston Baptist University hosted sold-out performances of Newsies by HC Theatreworks in February.

“I am so very proud of all of our students and I know the HC community is as well,” said Theater Director Bobby Linhart.

The Tommy Tunes honor excellence annually in high school musical theater throughout Houston as part of the Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) program. A ceremony will be streamed live on TUTS YouTube and Facebook pages at 7 p.m. on May 27, 2022, to announce the winners in all 14 categories.
