HC Counseling Hosts Mock Admissions Event

On March 24, 2022, Houston Christian High School’s Counseling Office proudly hosted over 100 attendees at the Mock College Admissions Event on our campus. This event was a great way for families to avoid confusion and false information about the college application and admission process. It was an interactive evening where students and parents served on a fictitious college admission committee and were tasked to evaluate four applicants based on their file consisting of an application, transcript, essay, recommendation letters, resume, and test scores.
The committee then had to agree to accept, deny, waitlist, and award a scholarship.

The evening was led by college admission Directors and Officers from: Rice University, University of Texas, Trinity University, University of Denver, Southern Methodist University, University of Tulsa, and the University of Chicago.

HC parent, Travis Koch, reviewed the evening saying, “As a parent, this event is one of the best things we have attended in our time at Houston Christian. Everything from the college admissions guests, to the mock applicant files, to the breakout groups was well coordinated. Carol also expertly facilitated a dynamic group conversation that was largely dominated by enthusiastic HC students. The material was so engaging, our family continued the dialogue later that evening back at our house. So, thanks to your team for providing such an exceptional event."

HC parent, Amy Drury, reviewed the evening saying, "Bravo for how you guys pulled off last night. I learned so much, loved the energy and seeing the kids getting excited for their future. I’m a big fan how HC really is getting both the parents and the kids prepared for college."
