Dance

The success of a well-rounded student is often balanced on athleticism and grace, and we foster both here at Houston Christian High School.
Through a multi-discipline and cumulative approach to dance education, Houston Christian encourages growth in strength, flexibility, technique, showmanship, and confidence. Through our program, dancers gain the knowledge and ability to utilize movement in a practical day-to-day setting along with a variety of performance arenas, including chapel worship, musicals, and dance reviews. Dancers of all skill levels will find a place where they will be challenged and inspired to learn how to move!

Psalm 149

“Let them praise His name with dancing . . .”
Multiple classes provide opportunities for newcomers to dance, while the Doxa Repertory Dance Company and Silver Spurs Drill Team give our more advanced dancers avenues to shine. Our dancers compete and perform year round through exciting events such as football halftime shows, pep rallies, chapels, and an annual dance show. Competitions such as Crowd Pleasers provide an opportunity for our dancers to compete against teams from studios, public schools and other private schools in the state of Texas.

All classes are held in the Brown Family Dance Studio, a beautiful and spacious facility built with the safety and education of our students in mind. Equipped with sprung floors, installed in consultation with the Houston Ballet, the state-of-the-art studio also boasts an audio-visual and recording system, along with wall-mounted and portable ballet barres. Come check it out!
