    Houston Christian is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Science (Biology) Instructor. This is a full-time position to begin the 2019-20 academic school year. This position reports to the Science Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other Science teachers and Faculty. This is a full-time, exempt position. This instructor should demonstrate qualifications and experience to instruct courses in the Life Sciences, including Advanced Placement Biology and Anatomy. Knowledge and competency in at least one additional science area such as Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, and/or Robotics is preferred.

  • Choir Director

    Choir Director
     
    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the Choir Director. This is a full-time, exempt position to begin in August 2019. The Choir Director is responsible for directing the school’s choral programs, preparing students for competitions and performances, assisting with the Spring musical performance, and teaching music and vocal classes. Choral groups may include small and large ensembles, show choir, and pop groups. This position works in collaboration with the Performing and Fine Arts teachers and staff and reports to the Performing Arts Department Chair and Principal.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor’s degree in Education, Music or other applicable field, Master’s degree preferred.

    Experience in choral direction
    Musical theater experience preferred.

  • Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) Assistant Director/Instructor

    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) Assistant Director and Instructor. The DSP Assistant Director/Instructor provides oversight and delivery of the daily instruction for the 9th and 10th grade students in the Dinstinguished Scholars Program and supports the DSP Director in the administration of the Scholars program. This position  is responsible to engage students new to the DSP and foster collaboration and positive culture. This position reports to the DSP Director and Principal.This is a part-time, exempt position that could be combined with teaching responsibilities in another department to become full-time. This position will begin in August 2019.

    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in humanities or research.
    2. Three or more years of classroom teaching experience, secondary experience preferred.
    3. Knowledge and familiarity with college level academic research methodology including research databases, APA format, and thesis synthesis and analysis.
    4. Demonstrated proficiency in the instruction of presentation and debate skills including various methods of personal communication.
    5. Well organized and demonstrated proficiency with recordkeeping.
    6. Exhibit excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills.

    Houston Christian High School (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the Library Media Specialist(LMS)The Library Media Specialist ensures the school library program is aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of HC and is an integral component of the instructional program. This position is responsible for oversight and administration of all library, information, and media resources. As a leader in the school community, the LMS serves as an advocate for the school library, creating an environment that encourages the use of educational technology to engage students and improve learning. The Library Media Specialist oversees Library aides, volunteers, and student assistants; works in close collaboration with the faculty and campus leaders; and reports to the Principal. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible to oversee teacher professional development, curriculum alignment and classroom instruction. This position will also assist the Principal in mentoring, recruitment, supervision, and training of faculty.  The DCI will work closely with teachers to follow and further develop the curriculum at HC. This position may be responsible to teach a course as deemed appropriate by the Principal. This position reports to the Principal.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Masters Degree
     8+ years of classroom experience and experience at the AP, Pre-AP and on-level courses
    Teacher certification or equivalent
    Leadership experience
    Ability to motivate and lead instructional staff
    Ability to interpret and follow policy, procedures and data
    Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness
    Ability to build strong relationships with teachers and support personnel with a collaborative leadership style

The Director of Athletics works to provide an effective athletic program for Houston Christian students that integrates HC’s core values with the development of moral character, the enrichment of spiritual lives, and the perpetuation of growth in Christian ideals. This position reports to the Principal, supervises the Athletics staff and coaches, and works in collaboration with faculty, staff, and sports trainers.
