  • Advanced Placement Spanish Instructor

    Advanced Placement Spanish Instructor

    Houston Christian is accepting applications for the position of Advanced Placement Spanish Instructor to begin the 2021-22 academic year. This position reports to the World Languages Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other World Language teachers and faculty. Applicants should have the ability to teach all levels of high school Spanish (including Honors and AP).

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Spanish, or other relevant areas.
    • Teacher certification or equivalent.
    • Classroom Experience, AP level experience preferred.

    Art Instructor

    Houston Christian High School (HC) is accepting applications for
    the position of full-time Art Instructor to begin in August 2021. This position reports to the Visual Arts Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other Visual and Performing Arts teachers and faculty. Experience in teaching different levels of high school and mediums is desired. Experience with Advanced Placement courses and department leadership is beneficial. The specific teaching assignment will be determined according to department needs. 
     
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree, in Education, Art, or other relevant area.

    • Classroom Experience (Experience in a high school classroom and on the Advanced Placement level is beneficial).

The  Bible Instructor reports to the Bible Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other Bible teachers and Faculty. This is a full-time, exempt position.   • Choral and Musical Accompanist

    Choral and Musical Accompanist

    Houston Christian High School is accepting applications for the position of Choral and Musical Accompanist. The Choral and Musical Accompanist will provide piano accompaniment and digital tracks for choral classes, choir and musical rehearsals, and performances.  This is a part-time position to begin the 2021-22 academic school year, reports to the  Choir Director and the Performing Arts Department Chair, and works in collaboration with the Performing Art Instructors. Position requires availability for Fine Arts Block (7:40-8:25 am) and some class periods during the school day. Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be required.  Some travel may be necessary. 
     
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Excellent piano skills, ability to sight read, and experience in live and digital accompaniment
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • Classroom experience experience is beneficial.

    Dean of Students

    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications for the position of Dean of Students  to begin the 2021-22 academic year. This position assists and reports to the Principal and works in collaboration with all Administrators, Staff,  and Faculty.  This is a full-time and exempt position.

    Qualifications:

A passion to mentor and engage students is vital to this position. Candidate should be a team player that demonstrates the ability to mediate, monitor and manage student, teacher, parent, school, and home dynamics. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in collaboration with ancillary programs that directly affect student disciplinary management: Counseling Department, Chaplain, Spiritual Life Program, Student Council, school retreats. Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage details of the master activity calendar are required. The successful candidate will possess a vision for excellence at the high school level and a strong desire to achieve success.   • Facilities Maintenance Technician

    Facilities Maintenance Technician
     
    Houston Christian High School (HC) is accepting applications for the position of full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to begin immediately. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance - including preventative - and repair of Houston Christian campus buildings and equipment under the direction of the Facilities Manager. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is one of a team of personnel who have overall responsibility for groundskeeping and landscape, campus safety and security, sanitation, maintenance and repair of all systems including structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/mechanical, alarms, vehicles, and furnishings.  The maintenance team also shares responsibility for all setups and takedowns.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Minimum five years experience working in building maintenance (preference given to experience in school, hospital or hotel industry).
    • Proficient in basic technology applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is beneficial (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
    • Exhibit excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills in English.

    This position requires strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and a general knowledge of repair and maintenance practices.  The Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for addressing daily work orders and must be a self-starter, able to collaborate with the faculty and staff, parents and contractors to maintain the buildings and facilitate events on campus. The Facilities Maintenance Technician may be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks and paperwork management depending on whether the task requires an outside contractor and/or impacts the School’s fire and safety permits.
