  • Bus Driver/Maintenance

    Bus Driver and Maintenance
     
    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications for Bus Driver and Maintenance to begin in July. The Bus Driver is responsible to provide transportation for Athletic teams and other groups to extra-curricular activities, as needed and available. Games and events are typically Tuesdays through Fridays afternoons and evenings and occasionally Saturday mornings. There may be occasional overnight or weekend trips. Additional time will be in support of the Facilities Team performing general maintenance. Hourly wage is based on experience, minimum $18/hour. 
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have CDL and maintain a good driving record. School Bus Endorsement preferred. 
    • Two years experience driving with a CDL license.
    • Ability to read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
    • Exhibit excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills. English fluency required.
    • Basic knowledge of first-aid procedures.
    • General maintenance knowledge and skills. 
    • Must be at least 25 years of age.
    • Represent the school in a positive light.

  • Band Director

    Band Director
     
    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications for the position of Band Director to begin in August 2020.This position reports to the Performing Arts Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other Performing Arts Faculty. This is a full-time, exempt position. The Band Director is responsible for directing the school’s Band program, teaching drumline, jazz band, and other classes as assigned within the performing arts.  The Band Director will also be responsible for preparing students for competitions and performances. The Band Director prepares and directs the band for football games and pep rallies; this does not involve marching. Qualified candidates should be skilled and certified to provide instrumental instruction and run an effective band performing and recruiting program.  The specific teaching assignment will be determined according to department needs and flexibility of the department
     
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Music, or other relevant area, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Teacher certification or equivalent preferred.
    • Classroom experience in an educational setting preferred.
    • Proficient in basic technology applications, electronic grade book and curricular software and hardware with experience in online teacher or learning preferred. Google Apps knowledge is beneficial (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
    • Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Art Instructor

    Art Instructor
     
    Houston Christian(HC) is accepting applications for the position of Art Instructor to begin in August 2020.This position reports to the Visual Arts Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other Visual and Performing Arts Teachers. Experience in teaching different levels of HS Art is desired and experience with advanced placement courses and/or department leadership is beneficial. The specific teaching assignment will be determined according to department needs. 
     
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree, in Education, Art or other relevant area, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Teacher certification or equivalent required.
    • Classroom Experience (Experience in a high school classroom and on the Advanced Placement level is beneficial.)
    • Demonstrated expertise in multiple artistic techniques, drawing and painting expertise preferred.
    • Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficient in basic technology applications, electronic grade book and curricular software and hardware) (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is beneficial (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).

The successful candidate will be energetic and creative and possess a vision for excellence in Visual Arts at the high school level, a strong work ethic, and a desire to achieve success. Experience and willingness to coach an athletic sport is beneficial and could be compensated with a stipend.

  • Program for College Readiness (PCR) Instructor

    Program for College Readiness (PCR) Instructor
     
    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Program for College Readiness (PCR) Instructor to begin in August 2020. Under the guidance of the Principal and the PCR Director, the PCR Instructor is responsible to focus on enriching all components of academic skills for incoming HC students with learning differences through classroom instruction. The PCR Instructor interfaces with teachers of PCR students to assure that these students are getting the skills and the support they need. This is an exempt, full-time, 10 month position. 
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree and Special Education, preferred.
    • Experience in working with students with learning differences.
    • Experience in strategies instruction is beneficial.
    • Strong communication and public relations skills with ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of administration, both internal and external to the school, parents and collegiate personnel.
    • Strong work ethic, energetic, enthusiastic, flexible.
    • Collaborative, servant leadership-oriented management.
    • Ability to manage several groups and projects simultaneously.
    • Have a high regard for confidentiality. 
    • Ability to build relationships with teachers, students, and parents.

  • Donor Records

    Donor Records
     
    Houston Christian High School (HC) is now accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Donor Records. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This position is responsible for the Donor database  under the direction of the Director of Development and works in collaboration with the Development Team on all Development events. This position is responsible for gift entry to ensure that all donations and pledges are accurately recorded into the donor database and reconciled with the Business Office, and database management to ensure accurate donor information for routine and special reports. This position requires close attention to detail. 
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Minimum of two years gift processing and data management experience, Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred
    •  Intermediate to advanced knowledge of charitable gift regulations and reporting standards (CASE guidelines and IRS rules and regulations)
    • Strong keyboarding skills and familiarity with database reporting and management

  • Leadership Instructor

    Leadership Instructor

    Houston Christian is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Leadership Instructor. This position is to begin the 2020-21 academic school year. The Leadership Instructor will build a foundation for spiritual growth and leadership development through teaching the five dimensions of leadership at various levels. This position reports to the Bible Department Chair and Principal, and works in collaboration with the Executive Director of The Bush Center on BCSL programs, other Bible teachers and Faculty, as required. This is a full-time, exempt position. This instructor should demonstrate qualifications and experience to instruct a variety of courses and topics within a 9-12 educational setting that develop students’ faith in relevant and meaningful ways, linking leadership and faith. Participation in extracurricular activities with students is expected and supports the development of student relationships.  In addition to classroom instruction, this position will organize and deliver the curriculum for the International Student Leadership Program and lead students via an online format for learning leadership.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Religion, History, Leadership or other relevant area, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Teacher certification or equivalent preferred.
    • Classroom experience in an educational setting preferred.

The Women’s Chaplain exhibits a desire to nurture young people in their Christian faith, enabling her to connect with students through meaningful relationships.
