  • Library Media Specialist

    Library Media Specialist
     
    Houston Christian High School (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the Library Media Specialist(LMS)The Library Media Specialist ensures the school library program is aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of HC and is an integral component of the instructional program. This position is responsible for oversight and administration of all library, information, and media resources. As a leader in the school community, the LMS serves as an advocate for the school library, creating an environment that encourages the use of educational technology to engage students and improve learning. The Library Media Specialist oversees Library aides, volunteers, and student assistants; works in close collaboration with the faculty and campus leaders; and reports to the Principal. This full-time position will include teaching responsibilities and begin in August 2019.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Masters degree or equivalent, degree in library science preferred.
    • Education degree and teacher certification or equivalent.
    • Five or more years of classroom teaching experience, secondary experience preferred.
    • Excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Leadership Instructor

    Leadership Instructor

    Houston Christian is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Leadership Instructor. This position is to begin the 2019-20 academic school year. The Leadership Instructor will build a foundation for spiritual growth and leadership development through teaching the five dimensions of leadership. This position reports to the Bible Department Chair and Principal, and works in collaboration with the Executive Director of the Bush Center on BCSL programs, other Bible teachers and Faculty, as required. This is a full-time, exempt position. This instructor should demonstrate qualifications and experience to instruct a variety of courses and topics within a 9-12 educational setting that develop students’ faith in relevant and meaningful ways. Participation in extracurricular activities with students is expected and supports the development of student relationships.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree, in Education, Religion, History, Leadership or other relevant area, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Teacher certification or equivalent preferred.
    • Classroom experience in an educational setting preferred.
    • Proficient in basic technology applications, electronic grade book and curricular software and hardware) (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is beneficial (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).

The successful candidate will be energetic, creative and possess a vision for excellence in academics at the high school level. They must have a strong work ethic, and a desire to achieve success. Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be necessary. Experience and willingness to coach an athletic sport is beneficial and could be compensated with a stipend.

  • Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) Assistant Director/Instructor

    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) Assistant Director and Instructor. The DSP Assistant Director/Instructor provides oversight and delivery of the daily instruction for the 9th and 10th grade students in the Dinstinguished Scholars Program and supports the DSP Director in the administration of the Scholars program. This position  is responsible to engage students new to the DSP and foster collaboration and positive culture. This position reports to the DSP Director and Principal. This will be a full-time, exempt position that may be combined with teaching responsibilities in content expertise. This position will begin in August 2019.

    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in humanities or research.
    2. Three or more years of classroom teaching experience, secondary experience preferred.
    3. Knowledge and familiarity with college level academic research methodology including research databases, APA format, and thesis synthesis and analysis.
    4. Demonstrated proficiency in the instruction of presentation and debate skills including various methods of personal communication.
    5. Well organized and demonstrated proficiency with recordkeeping.
    6. Exhibit excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    7. Self-motivated with strong, positive interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with parents, students, faculty, staff, and administration.
    8. Proficient in basic technology applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel) and Google Apps (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
    9. Comply to and enforce all HC policies and operating procedures.
    10. Exemplify Christian leadership in interactions with students, parents and co-workers.

    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of English Instructor to begin in August 2019. This position reports to the English Department Chair and Principal and works in collaboration with other English Teachers and Faculty. This is a full-time, exempt position. Experience in teaching different levels of HS English is desired and experience with advanced placement courses is beneficial.  The specific teaching assignment will be determined according to department needs.

Successful candidates will demonstrate experience building a highly competitive program and the ability to successfully recruit middle school players. Coaches at HC promote sportsmanship, foster good character in student athletes, provide for the safety and welfare of all participants, and lead as a Christian role model in all settings. The Girls’ Basketball Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director  and is responsible for the overall operations of the program, in and out of season. Additional duties of the head coach include working in coordination with the Director of Athletics to manage program budget, supervise activities and promote positive community relations. Applicants shall embrace the athletic philosophy of the school and give full support to the multi-sport athlete.

  • Athletic Director

    Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Athletic Director . This is a full-time, exempt position. The Athletic Director  works to provide an effective athletic program for Houston Christian students that integrates HC’s core values with the development of moral character, the enrichment of spiritual lives, and the perpetuation of growth in Christian ideals. This position reports to the Principal, supervises the Athletics staff and coaches, and works in collaboration with faculty, staff, and sports trainers.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's Degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Coaching experience preferred.
    • Possess a broad knowledge of many sports.
    • Knowledge of the overall operations of an athletic program.
    • Proven ability to manage budget and personnel.
